A 33-year-old transient is due in court Tuesday on charges of exposing himself and attempting to force a woman to perform a sex act on him in a cafe in Garden Grove.

Brian Row was charged Dec. 14 with attempted forcible oral copulation and assault with the intent to commit a sex offense, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and resisting arrest and a sentencing enhancement for committing a serious offense last year.

The charges stem from an attack that occurred just before 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at Cafe Orange, 9436 Garden Grove Blvd., according to Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney.

Row walked into the cafe, approached the victim, exposed himself and then grabbed the woman’s head in an attempt to force her to commit a sex act on him, the lieutenant alleged.

When the woman screamed, the suspect ran away, but he returned to the scene and tried to run off again when he saw officers there, Whitney said.

Row pleaded guilty Feb. 6 to attempted second-degree robbery, according to court records. He was placed on three years of probation and sentenced to 186 days in jail. He violated probation and was sentenced March 3 to 90 more days in jail, and then again was sentenced to 90 days jail on Nov. 2, court documents show.
