A big rig carrying about 40,000 pounds of produce jackknifed and crashed Wednesday morning on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Rowland Heights, spilling a large portion of its load onto the freeway and shutting down all westbound lanes, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash took place about 1:20 a.m. on the 60 Freeway at Nogales Street, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said.

Cal Trans was trying to clean up the produce, while two rotators were attempting to move the big rig to an upright position, Kimball said.

The CHP issued a SigAlert at 1:42 a.m. The CHP managed to reopen the number 1 and 2 lanes at 5:48 a.m. The other lanes remain shut down.

No injuries were reported.

There’s no word yet on how long all of the westbound lanes will remain shut down, Kimball added.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation by the CHP.
