A fire caused extensive damage to a Mead Valley home Monday, displacing a family of three.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 6 a.m. in the 20800 block of Mural Street, near Mead Street and took 15 firefighters nearly an hour to fully contain, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The house was left uninhabitable. Two adults and a child were displaced, and the American Red Cross was summoned to assist them in finding temporary lodgings.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
