Police recovered two assault rifles from a high-rise apartment in downtown Sunday, when a SWAT team checked reports of an armed man barricaded inside a building in the South Park neighborhood of downtown Los Angeles.
The incident began with a woman, who called police about at 4:45 a.m. from the 19th floor of a building in the 800 block of South Olive Street. She reported that she was assaulted by someone while trying to get something out of the unit and that the person inside may have been armed, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the LAPD‘s Media Relations Division.

A SWAT team was called out to the scene and some neighboring apartments where evacuated as a precaution, Eisenman said.
The SWAT team made their way into the unit of the 19th floor of the high rise and found no suspect, but did turn up two assault rifles in their search, which was called off about 11:30 a.m., said Los Angeles police Sgt. Barry Montgomery.
“As of right now, the investigation is ongoing,” Montgomery said. “The victim is talking to detectives. It sounds like it was a domestic violence call. There are two sides to every story.”
The police sergeant said he had no other immediate information.
