Two 19-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of residential burglary in Monterey Park, a police sergeant said Thursday.
Shelton Elijah Charles and Tyson Rashad Bougere, both of Pasadena, were arrested about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Crest Haven Way, Monterey Park police Sgt. Rick Munder said.
One suspect was seen in the backyard of a house while the other suspect waited in a parked car in front of the home, Munder said.
A neighbor saw the men and called police.
When police arrived the suspect in the backyard got into the car and the two men tried to flee the scene, Munder said. Police stopped the car and arrested the two men. They were booked on suspicion of residential burglary.
Charles and Bougere were each being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and were scheduled to be in Alhambra Superior Court Thursday morning for their arraignment, Munder said. There’s no word yet on what happened in court.
