A Torrance man is expected in court Wednesday in connection with a possible alcohol-related hit-and-run crash that left a tow-truck driver and two others injured, two of them seriously, according to police.
The crash occurred about 3:45 a.m. Monday on Emerald Street, just west of Amie Avenue, said Torrance police Sgt. Ronald Harris.
In Myung Song, 61, was driving west on Emerald Street when his 2016 Lexus hit a tow truck driver and two other people who were standing near a disabled vehicle that was about to be towed, according to Harris.
After the impact, Song got out of the Lexus and ran off, but he was taken into custody about three hours later, the sergeant said.
Two of the pedestrians were seriously injured, and the third suffered minor injuries.
“Alcohol intoxication is being investigated as a contributing factor in the collision,” Harris said.
Song, who was booked on suspicion of hit-and-run, was released after posting $100,000 bail, Harris said. He’s scheduled to appear before a judge in Torrance on Wednesday.
Emerald Street was closed in the area for about five hours while an investigation was conducted.
