An investigation into a shooting that left a man wounded in Riverside led authorities to Mead Valley, where a man was found dead, the sheriff’s department reported Friday.
According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Walter Mendez, the evidentiary trail began at the south entrance to the Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center on Davis Avenue.
Mendez said deputies found a man there about 6 p.m. Thursday, suffering from a gunshot wound. The man, whose name was withheld, was taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley, where he’s recovering, according to the sergeant.
Deputies gathered information that led them to a house in the 21900 block of Bailly Street, near Day Street, in Mead Valley, roughly a mile south of the training center.
“A second male victim was found, deceased, at the residence,” Mendez said.
The man’s identity was being withheld pending notification of his family.
According to Mendez, no suspects are being sought, but sheriff’s officials revealed no details about a motive or how the cases were linked.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit at (760) 393-3528.
