A father and son in Glendale were arrested on gun and drug charges following a probation compliance check, authorities said Thursday.
Glendale police and Los Angeles County probation officers conducted a compliance check on two brothers who live at a home in the 1300 block of Blossom Street on Wednesday, said Sgt. Dan Suttles with the Glendale Police Department.
During a search of the home, officers found what was described as “an elaborate illegal marijuana grow” along with a rifle, two guns, scales, several boxes of ammunition and $100,000 in cash found hidden under a couch and in canisters, Suttles said.
In total, officers seized 158 plants and an additional three pounds of marijuana in bags, he said.
Police arrested the father, Norik Harutyunyan, 49, and his son, Vahe Harutyunyan, 24, for drug and weapons violations, Suttles said. The other brother was not home.
Glendale code enforcement inspectors were called to the scene and ”yellow tagged” the home after finding numerous violations and unpermitted additions to the house. Electricity was disconnected until the homeowner completes required repairs, followed by an inspection, Suttles said.
