
A Pomona police K-9 helped officers locate a gun believed discarded by a man during a foot pursuit with officers, authorities said Saturday.
Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force officers, working gang suppression in the 200 block of East Kingsley Avenue, obtained a search warrant for a home in the area when they spotted Isaac Nava, 34, of Pomona, leave the residence, according to Cpl. J. Hernandez.
Officers attempted to contact Nava, but he fled on foot until he was apprehended as he climbed over a fence in a neighboring yard, Hernandez said.
During the chase, it was believed Nava discarded a firearm in a yard he as he ran through. Officers attempted to locate the weapon but were unable to due to darkness and a large amount of debris, Hernandez said.
Pomona police K-9 “Tibo” was brought in to search for the weapon and located the firearm hidden in a bush, he said.
Nava was arrested and booked on several weapons charges and was being held on $195,000 bail.
