A Palm Desert man accused in a string of Coachella Valley home burglaries was charged Friday with 15 felonies, including a dozen burglary counts.
Joseph Foster Ramey, 26, is accused in a series of break-ins in Palm Springs, Palm Desert and Thousand Palms between May and July. In addition to the 12 burglary counts, which involve alleged break-ins at homes in all three cities, as well as eight units at Storquest Self Storage in Palm Springs, he faces a vehicle theft count for allegedly stealing a Mercedes-Benz and two counts of receiving stolen property.
He also faces allegations of committing the burglaries while out on bail for a separate burglary case involving an alleged March break-in at a Palm Desert home.
Ramey was arrested Tuesday in Thousand Palms, the same day he’s alleged to have broken into a home on Shady Palms Circle.
He was being held in lieu of $1 million bail. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department requested a high bail amount, alleging that guns were stolen in some of the burglaries. The declaration authored by Sheriff’s Deputy Jose Villasenor states, “It is my belief that Ramey is responsible for more burglaries within the Coachella Valley and the public is at risk if he is out of custody.”
Ramey pleaded not guilty to all counts Friday afternoon and will return to court July 31 for a felony settlement conference.
