Authorities searched Tuesday for a gunman who shot four people Tuesday — two fatally — in Gardena and in Lynwood.

The first shooting occurred about 4 a.m. in the 1200 block of West 135th Street in Gardena, where a woman was killed, said sheriff’s Lt. John Corina. Her name was withheld, pending notification of her relatives.

Two other people, described only as a male and a female, were wounded at that location, and were hospitalized in critical condition, the county fire department reported.

One of the victims was described as a pregnant woman, who survived the attack, according to reports from the scene. Police closed 135th Street between Raymond and Budlong avenues while an investigation was conducted.

About 4:40 a.m., a man was shot to death near the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard onramp to the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, Corina said. His name was withheld pending notification of his relatives.

According to reports from the scene, the suspect in the Lynwood killing carjacked a couple and fatally shot the man, then fled in the victims’ vehicle.

It is believed that the suspect knew all of the victims, including the couple who were carjacked, Corina said.
