A 19-year-old Cal State Northridge student has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault investigation and officials are asking possible additional victims to come forward.
The suspect, identified as Davis Moreno-Jaime, was arrested Friday at 12:30 p.m. on campus, according to university officials.
Moreno-Jaime, a 2017 graduate of Redlands High School who played soccer at CSUN, is suspected of multiple assaults, the first of which occurred in April 2017 and the last earlier this month. Police know of assaults that occurred in the San Fernando Valley, at CSUN and at an undisclosed location outside Los Angeles County, officials said.
CSUN officials said Moreno-Jaime has been suspended.
“This is an ongoing multi-jurisdictional investigation involving several law enforcement agencies,” said CSUN Chief of Police Anne Glavin, who said campus police and the Los Angeles Police Department were asking anyone with information about the suspect to come forward as “there are believed to be additional survivors of this suspect.”
Moreno-Jaime’s image was released at a news conference held on the campus Friday.
Dianne F. Harrison, CSUN’s president, issued a statement expressing gratitude to those who provided information to police and urging others to come forward.
“I am grateful to the brave students and women who stepped forward to provide information to the police regarding sexual assaults,” Harrison said.
Moreno-Jaime may have been known to the alleged victims.
At the news conference, Glavin urged potential victims or anyone with information to call police, wherever they are.
“Let me say particularly to our CSUN students, it does not matter where the crime occurred. Please just walk into one or the other of the police departments and report what happened,” Glavin said. “Telling us your story does not obligate you to see it through to the full prosecution under law. If that happens, good.”
Moreno-Jaime played in 14 games with the Matadors as a freshman during the 2017 season.
He is being held at the, according to Mike Lopez of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section
Anyone who may have been victimized by Moreno-Jaime was urged to call LAPD Detectives Arellano or Arguelles at (818) 832-0609 or CSUN Sgt. Rene Lino at (818) 677-6919.
