A 40-year-old Llano man was facing felony charges Thursday after being arrested following a collision in Littlerock that fatally injured a motorcyclist.
The collision was reported about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday on state Route 138, also known as Pearblossom Highway, near 72nd Street East, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Mickey Oden was eastbound on the highway in a 2003 Nissan and made a left turn in front two Port Hueneme men riding Harley Davidson motorcycles headed west on the same road, according to the CHP.
One of the riders, 26-year-old Aaron Esala, was unable to avoid the Nissan and the front of his motorcycle struck the right side of the car, ejected him from the bike, the CHP reported.
The other rider, 28-year-old James Seier, was unable to avoid Esala’s motorcycle, and his bike went down, officials said.
Esala was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Seier suffered a minor abrasion to his right arm, according to the CHP.
Oden was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol and was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail, according to the CHP and sheriff’s inmate records.
Westbound lanes of the highway were closed until about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, the CHP reported.
