Police Wednesday released video of a driver suspected of hitting a 35-year-old man in a crosswalk in South Los Angeles, causing serious injuries, and then leaving the scene.
The victim was hit about 4:45 p.m. in the area of Central Avenue and 43rd Place, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police said a motorist in a gray Toyota SUV approached the intersection after leaving the parking lot of the Family Farms Market via 43rd Place.
“The driver approached Central Avenue and struck the victim while the victim crossed the street walking eastbound in the crosswalk with a green light for pedestrians,” according to police. “Bystanders called for paramedics and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released the next day.”
The driver didn’t stop. He is described as a 30-40 years old and wearing a gray baseball cap. The vehicle was described as a late model Toyota 4-Runner or Sequoia, now with front-end damage.
Anyone with information that could help investigators identify the driver was urged to contact Detective Moses Castillo of the LAPD’s Central Traffic Division at (213) 833-3713 or email@example.com.
After-hours or on weekends calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7.
