Authorities sought public help Thursday to solve the shooting death of a man in the south Los Angeles area.

Frank Douglas, 26, was fatally shot about 6 a.m. Feb. 15 in the 300 block of East 139th Street, according to the sheriff’s department.

Detectives released security video that showed Douglas approaching his parked car that morning prior to going to his job in Torrance. As he was warming up his car, a man shot him and fled.

Security video also showed a “vehicle of interest” that was passing by in the neighborhood, described as a white four-door sedan possibly having tinted windows. It was unclear if the car was connected with the crime.

Douglas had spent the previous evening celebrating Valentine’s Day with his girlfriend, Katrina Arnold, and his 4-year-old daughter, authorities said.

“If anyone knows anything, I just pray that you have it in your heart to come forward,” Arnold said at a news conference Thursday morning at the Hall of Justice in downtown Los Angeles. “He didn’t deserve that … and I really want justice for him, and to help me with closure, to move forward.”

Investigators were unsure of a motive for the crime, but do not believe it was gang-related. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
