A man, once armed with a rifle, is in custody on suspicion of shooting two men and carjacking another one in Garden Grove Saturday, a police lieutenant said.

The suspect’s personal information and photo were not being released at this time, Garden Grove Police Lt. Carl Whitney said.

Officers were sent to Harbor Boulevard and Buaro Street at 2:26 a.m. in response to a call of gunshots heard in the area and came upon two robbery victims. One was shot in the neck and the other was shot in the chest. Both were taken to an area hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, Whitney said.

Shortly after, police received another call from an additional victim who reported that a man armed with a rifle attempted to carjack his vehicle in the area of Harbor and Garden Grove boulevards. Officers responded and located a man matching the suspect’s description nearby, he said.

“The subject detained was later identified as the suspect by the victim,” he said. “A rifle was found nearby and stolen property from the robbery was found on the suspect’s person.”

Garden Grove police detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the robbery or attempted carjacking to call them at (714) 741-5800.
