A man who posted a topless photo of his ex-girlfriend on her employer’s Facebook page — and who was the first person convicted of revenge porn by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office — reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed against him by the victim, a courtroom clerk said Monday.
Noe Iniguez, 40, was found guilty under the 2013 statute which prohibits the unauthorized posting of nude or sexual images of an individual with the purpose of causing emotional distress. He was also convicted of two counts of violating restraining orders.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Fields sentenced Iniguez to a year in jail in 2014. He also placed Iniguez on three years probation and ordered him to attend domestic violence counseling sessions and to stay away from the victim.
Iniguez was the first defendant to be convicted in a revenge porn case filed by City Attorney Mike Feuer’s office.
The woman sued Iniguez in April 2015, identifying herself only as Jane Doe. The clerk for Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Monica Bachner said the settlement between Iniguez and the plaintiff was reached Nov. 13. No terms were divulged.
Iniguez and the victim split up in 2011, after four years together. After receiving several harassing text messages from Iniguez following the breakup, she obtained a restraining order.
In December 2013, Iniguez used an alias to post derogatory comments about her on her employer’s Facebook page. In March 2014, he posted the topless photo, along with comments calling her a “drunk” and a “slut” and saying she should be fired.
