A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized Wednesday morning with a head injury suffered while fighting with a suspect in Temple City.
The deputy was injured shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday in the 5600 block of Rosemead Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“The deputy responded to a call of a possible drunk male on the second floor of the location,” Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. “When he arrived and attempted to detain the suspect, they got into an altercation which caused them both to fall down the stairs.”
The deputy sustained a head injury and was rushed to County/USC Medical Center to be treated and evaluated, Schrader said. The deputy’s condition was not disclosed.
Sheriff’s department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida tweeted a message to the injured deputy.
“Sending prayers to the TEMLASD deputy who was injured at a call for service… The LASDHQ family is thinking of you.”
The suspect was taken into custody by other deputies who responded to the location. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries, Schrader said.
