A parolee-at-large who barricaded himself inside a home in Pomona escaped custody, but police vowed Thursday they would find him.

Officers attempted to serve a search warrant about 4 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 2200 block of Heather Way, but the suspect barricaded himself inside, according to a statement from the Pomona Police Department.

The neighborhood was placed on lockdown while a SWAT team and crisis negotiators tried to resolve the situation, the statement said.

About 11:30 p.m., it was determined the suspect had eluded capture and the lockdown was lifted and residents were allowed to return home, police said.

“Our resources are dedicated to locating him,” police said.

The name and a description of the suspect were not immediately available.
