The Coroner’s Office Thursday identified a 35-year-old man who was shot and killed in East Los Angeles.
The victim was identified as Jaasiel Ruiz of Los Angeles, according to the coroner’s office.
Deputies responded about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday to a call of a gunshot victim in the 6100 block of Whittier Boulevard and located Ruiz suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A description of the suspect or vehicle was not immediately available and it was unclear if the shooting was gang-related, Koerner said.
