A 17-year-old boy from Los Angeles suffered fatal injuries when he jumped from a seventh-floor structure at The Americana at Brand shopping center in Glendale, landing on a man who was with two young children, authorities said Wednesday.
The teen and the man were taken to a hospital about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, where the boy who jumped was pronounced dead about 5:30 p.m., according to Tahnee Lightfoot of the Glendale Police Department.
The 49-year-old man who was on the ground sustained non-life-threatening injuries, she said.
Neither child was injured.
Police did not immediately say if they regard the boy’s jump as a suicide attempt.
