A suspected DUI driver caused the temporary shutdown of part of Hollywood Boulevard after hitting a fire hydrant and pedestrian, authorities said Monday.
The crash was reported at 10:30 p.m. Sunday near Hollywood Boulevard and Western Avenue, a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Station said.
The crash caused water to flow when the fire hydrant broke away from its mount. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with injuries not believed life-threatening, the desk officer said.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, she said.
