A 23-year-old transient woman was charged Tuesday with attempted murder for allegedly attempting to shove a teenager off the Crown Valley Parkway bridge in Ladera Ranch.
Stephanie Rose Redondo was charged with attempted murder with a sentencing enhancement for attempted premeditated murder. She was also charged with misdemeanor counts of battery and assault for allegedly attacking two other victims.
Redondo’s arraignment on Tuesday was rescheduled for Sept. 13 in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. She is being held on $500,000 bail.
Deputies were sent to Crown Valley Parkway between O’Neil Drive and Jardines about 4 p.m. Friday after multiple callers reported someone attempting to jump off the Crown Valley Parkway bridge.
Capistrano Valley High School cross-country runners were on the sidewalk in the area at that time and Redondo allegedly lunged at one of the boys to attempt to push him into traffic, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Redondo allegedly put a 13-year-old boy on the team in a headlock while trying to shove him off the bridge, prosecutors said. Before running away she allegedly punched a 14-year-old boy who tried to stop her, prosecutors said.
