A boy who was shot in the unincorporated Westmont area of Los Angeles County near South Los Angeles was later pronounced dead at a hospital and the shooter was at large Wednesday morning.
Deputies responded about 9:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of West 105th Street, near Vermont Avenue, where they located the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The boy was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff’s department said.
The age and name of the victim was not disclosed.
A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available.
It was unknown if the shooting was gang-related.
