A motorcycle rider died Thursday morning on an offramp from the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Arleta and the offramp was closed for about four hours while an investigation was conducted.
About 10 motorcycle riders had stopped traffic while they were being filmed doing tricks on the freeway near the Terra Bella Street exit at 1:35 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Just after 1:40 a.m. it was reported a rider was down and unconscious on the Terra Bella Street offramp, the CHP said.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, but details of what led to the rider’s death were not immediately available.
The Terra Bella Street offramp was closed until 5:37 a.m., the CHP said.
