A man was shot to death a few blocks northwest of the Staples Center, authorities said Sunday.

It was reported at 9:47 p.m. Saturday at James M. Wood Boulevard and Francisco Street, Officer F. Gonzalez in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center said.

The 24-year-old man was sitting in a car when he was approached by two suspects described as men in their 20s, Gonzalez said. One suspect fired multiple rounds at the victim before both suspects ran to a vehicle and fled.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, he said.

It was not known whether the homicide was gang-related, Gonzalez said.
