Power was out to about 400 residents of El Monte Wednesday morning as utility crews worked to upgrade a power pole.
Electricity was shut off to 390 Southern California Edison customers in the area of Peck Road and Emery Street just after midnight and was scheduled to be restored by 5 a.m., according to the El Monte Police Department.
The southbound lanes of Peck Road at Emery Street will be closed until 6 a.m. while SCE crews perform maintenance work. Drivers were asked to find an alternate route, police said.
Traffic signals at Peck Road and Lambert Avenue are temporarily out because of the maintenance work and drivers were told to treat the intersection as a four-way stop, the EMPD said.
