A 54-year-old armed burglary suspect was arrested outside a business in Claremont, authorities said Wednesday.
An officer spotted a suspicious vehicle driving through the parking lot of a business in the 400 block of West Arrow Highway about 10:15 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle parked in the PepperTree Shopping Center and an officer in an unmarked police vehicle watched the suspect vehicle, according to the Claremont Police Department.
About an hour later, officers walked up to the vehicle and spoke to the driver, identified as Michael Swett of Pomona. A search of Swett and the vehicle turned up burglary tools, a loaded .45 caliber gun with a loaded extended capacity magazine, methamphetamine and a methamphetamine smoking pipe, police said.
Swett was arrested and booked at the Claremont jail, then released with a citation for the misdemeanor charges.
