A 28-year-old man who has spent more than five years in jail or in custody at a state hospital while awaiting trial for his grandmother’s stabbing death pleaded no contest Monday to voluntary manslaughter.
Armando Sepulveda also admitted using a knife to kill 59-year-old Anna Sepulveda and was immediately sentenced to 12 years in prison, with no credit for time served.
On Oct. 20, 2014, when the victim failed to show up for work at her daughter’s Alhambra business, the family asked deputies to conduct a welfare check. They found her body in the kitchen of her home in the 100 block of North Gage Avenue. She had been stabbed multiple times.
Sepulveda, who was living with his grandmother, was arrested at the home.
