Authorities Thursday identified an armed robbery suspect who was killed in a shootout with the owner of a liquor store in Santa Clarita.

The shooting occurred about 8:20 p.m. Sunday at the business in the 19900 block of Golden Valley Road, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Brandon Burris, 25, of Canyon Country died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

“There was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and the victim/store owner,” Koerner said. “Both the suspect and victim were struck.”

The name of the store owner was not released. Video from the scene on CBS2 showed the store owner crawling out of the liquor store and sheriff’s deputies pulling him to safety.
