One of two men suspected of stealing electrical panels from homes in Jurupa Valley and other locations was being held Tuesday in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Jonathan Joseph Hyde, 33, was arrested along with 37-year-old Timothy Allen Martin in Jurupa Valley on Sunday following a weeks-long Riverside County sheriff’s investigation.
Hyde was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of grand theft, conspiracy and trespassing. Martin was booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside on suspicion of receiving stolen property and conspiracy. He posted a $10,000 bond within hours of being taken into custody and was released.
According to sheriff’s officials, deputies were notified in mid-January that several circuit breakers and panels had been stripped from residences in the 3900 block of Iron Mountain Circle.
Further investigation revealed similar thefts had occurred at homes in neighboring Eastvale and Ontario, according to the sheriff’s department.
A homeowner’s video security surveillance system captured one theft immediately before and after it happened, as well as the getaway vehicle involved, sheriff’s officials said.
That evidence, as well as other information, was used to obtain a search warrant for Hyde’s property in the 6500 block of Etiwanda Avenue, where he and Martin were taken into custody without a struggle, investigators said.
The estimated monetary value of the victims’ losses was not provided.
