A man was shot in a leg in Vista Monday afternoon.
The shooting in the 300 block of Paseo Marguerita, just east of North Santa Fe Avenue, was reported about 3:45 p.m., according to sheriff’s officials.
Paramedics took the victim, whose name and age were not released, to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to a leg, Lt. Ted Greenawald said. The injury was not considered life-threatening, the lieutenant said.
At least one nearby school was placed on lockdown for a time as deputies searched the neighborhood for the shooter. No one was in custody as of early evening, Greenawald said.
The circumstances of the shooting were unclear and a description of the assailant was not immediately available.
