A 24-year-old man was behind bars Tuesday, accused of severely beating another man and threatening to kill him near Ripley in eastern Riverside County.

Travon Deshawn Tyndale of Ripley was arrested about 12:15 p.m. Monday after deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 24600 block of School Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The two men allegedly began arguing before things got physical and spiraled into a fistfight. Tyndale allegedly knocked the other man to the ground and repeatedly kicked and punched him in the face and head. Tyndale also allegedly grabbed a machete during the fight, but did not use it.

Witnesses alleged Tyndale threatened to kill the man and burn his house down during the argument before the fight, according to the sheriff’s department.

Tyndale was booked at the Blythe jail on suspicion of assault on a person causing great bodily injury and criminal threats, with bail set at $25,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
