A suspect’s arrest turned into a public skirmish Saturday afternoon that resulted in the detainment of 25 people by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers responded to a call of a possible man with a gun in a large group of people about 4:15 p.m. in the park at 9651 South Western Ave., said Sgt. S. Blackman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Station.
As officers were arresting that suspect, the others “fought with the cops,” Blackman said.
The suspect with the gun was arrested for possessing the weapon, and 25 others were detained, with four to six of those expected to be arrested, he said.
No other details, including why the group was originally gathered, were immediately available.
