Santa Ana police released security images Tuesday of a man wanted for punching another man.

The crime occurred about 7:15 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of East Civic Center Drive, police said.

The suspect was described as Hispanic, 20-25 years of age, 5-feet-7 inches to 5-feet-10 inches tall, with a slender build and long black hair. He wore a gray shirt over a black long-sleeve shirt, a black Anaheim Ducks logo hat and beige pants, and he carried a gray backpack.

The suspect frequents the neighborhood and may be a transient, police said.

According to police, the victim was walking his dogs when the suspect confronted him “and told him to return the suspect’s bike.”

“The victim did not understand what the suspect was talking about, because the victim was walking his two dogs and did not have a bike,” police said. “The suspect appeared to be under the influence, and continued yelling at the victim about the bike.”

Police say the victim continued walking home to avoid a confrontation, but the suspect followed him and punched him several times in the head. The victim fought back and the suspect fled the scene, they said.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Santa Ana Police Investigative Specialist L. Delisle at 714-245-8647, or send an email to ldelisle@santa-ana.org.
