A bomb squad was called to Garden Grove Tuesday evening to investigate a man’s car which was suspected of containing explosive material used to make bombs, but no explosives were found.
Deputies were dispatched the 9000 block of Westminster Avenue, near Flower Street, about 6:45 p.m., according to Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The man was suspected of making threats on social media that led investigators to believe he possessed explosives, Braun said.
The man was later arrested for a parole violation, Braun said.
OCSD investigators and bomb squad were assisted in the search of the vehicle by the FBI, which provided some specialized equipment that was used, she said.
The age and name of the suspect was not disclosed.
