A man was found dead Thursday in a storefront that apparently was converted into a residence in Compton, and the case was being investigated as a homicide, authorities said.
Deputies were sent to the 1600 block of East Alondra Boulevard about 5 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“Upon arriving, they discovered one adult unresponsive inside a storefront that appeared to have been converted into a residence,” according to a sheriff’s statement.
The unidentified man, apparently in his 20s, “sustained injuries that are, at this time, unknown in nature,” the sheriff’s statement said. “His cause of death will be determined at autopsy. … It is unknown if this murder is gang-related.”
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
