A man is dead following a shooting in Bell Gardens, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said Sunday.
The shooting occurred at 11:22 p.m. Saturday in the 6500 block of Purdy Avenue, according to Juanita Navarro-Suarez, with the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
“Officers from Bell Gardens Police Department responded,” she said, noting deputies are assisting the department. “Upon their arrival, officers found a male suffering from several gunshot wounds to the upper torso.”
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.
A preliminary investigation found the suspect and the victim had a row in the street and the victim was shot.
The suspect fled northbound on Purdy Avenue and turned west down Loveland Street in an older model grey or white sedan, Navarro-Suarez said.
Investigators are still searching for the gun.
