Luis Fabian Centeno was also charged with inflicting injury on an elder adult, with sentencing enhancement allegations of causing great bodily injury on an elder, attempted premeditated murder, personal use of a deadly weapon, and inflicting injury on an elder 70 years or older.
Centeno, who’s being held on $500,000 bail and listed his occupation as security, was scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
Orange County sheriff’s deputies were called at 11:42 a.m. Wednesday to Coto De Caza Drive and Antonio Parkway and took Centeno into custody, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Dennis Breckner said.
Investigators are not releasing details about what may have prompted the attack because they have not been able to take a statement from the 72-year-old victim, who is intubated but is expected to survive, Breckner said.
The man, whose name was withheld, underwent surgery Wednesday and was transferred to the ICU, Breckner said.
