A 48-year-old man was shot to death at a home just east of Temecula, and the perpetrator remained at large Friday.
Allen Boone of San Bernardino was killed in the attack Thursday in the 38000 block of Calaveras Road, in the unincorporated community of Rancho California, situated in the hills overlooking the Temecula Valley, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Ben Ramirez said patrol deputies were called to the residence about 4 a.m. to investigate reports of a shooting and discovered Boone gravely wounded.
Life-saving measures were attempted, but he died at the scene, Ramirez said.
The shooter was not found.
Central Homicide Unit detectives took over the investigation and are attempting to sort out a possible motive, as well as develop leads in the case.
