Two people were struck and killed along the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway at Towne Avenue in Pomona Sunday, authorities said.

It occurred at 3:40 a.m., and both victims are believed to have been standing on the roadway when they were struck, according to Officer Patrick Kimball of the California Highway Patrol.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived at 3:55 a.m., but did not transport anyone to a hospital, a dispatcher said.

The Pomona Police Department assisted by running a traffic break at 4 a.m., officers confirmed.

The CHP issued a SigAlert for all westbound lanes at 4:03 a.m.
