Santa Ana police asked Tuesday for the public’s help in tracking down a suspect who sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl.

The victim was walking in downtown Santa Ana about 4 a.m. Monday when the suspect approached and walked alongside her with his bicycle, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Once the two arrived in the 1200 block of North Main Street, the suspect pulled the girl behind a building and attacked her, Bertagna said.

The suspect is a Latino man about 40 years old, 5-foot-6, with a slim build and medium-length brown beard and mustache. He was wearing a red-and-white checkered short-sleeved shirt, slim black jeans, dark shoes and a blue hat with a logo on it.

Anyone with information helpful to investigators was asked to call detectives at 714-245-8302 or email mnolan@santa-ana.org.
