A stolen vehicle suspect led officers on an approximately 20-minute pursuit in the San Fernando Valley before crashing the vehicle and being taken into custody in Van Nuys.

Officers began pursuing the allegedly stolen white SUV at 5:22 p.m., according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im, who could not immediately provide the location.

The suspect drove recklessly at high speeds in the San Fernando Valley, nearly hitting multiple vehicles before crashing into a parked vehicle near Gilmore Street and Kester Avenue.

The suspect climbed out of a window of the SUV and ran from the scene. Officers caught up to him nearby and tackled him to the ground.

He was taken into custody shortly before 5:40 p.m.
