Los Angeles police Thursday shot and wounded a woman armed with a handgun at a motel in the Winnetka area near Canoga Park.
The shooting occurred at 2:30 a.m. at the Best Western Canoga Park Motor Inn at 20122 Vanowen St.
“Officers responded to a radio call of a female trespass suspect …,” according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement. “When they arrived, they went to the room the woman was said to be and found her there armed with a handgun; at that time there was an officer-involved shooting.”
The woman, whose name was not immediately released, suffered a “non-life-threatening gunshot wound” and was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said. According to a report from the scene, she did not fire her weapon.
A handgun was recovered at the scene.
