A person was fatally struck by a Metrolink train Friday afternoon in Northridge.
Metrolink Ventura County line train 116 was traveling to Los Angeles and struck the unidentified victim near the 9000 block of Tampa Avenue shortly before 3 p.m., according to Metrolink officials and Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No one on the train was injured.
The train stopped between the Northridge and Chatsworth stations, Metrolink reported.
There was no word of why the person was on or near the tracks. No other details were immediately available.
