Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu has reopened Sunday after a brush fire about 50 feet above burned about 2 acres before firefighters stopped its progress.
The fire was reported at 8:25 p.m. Saturday in a half-acre of medium brush in the 18900 block of West Pacific Coast Highway, according to Los Angeles County fire officials.
Ground crews and water-dropping helicopters quickly attacked the blaze, fire officials said. Forward progress was reported stopped at 9:10 p.m.
PCH was closed in both directions between Big Rock Drive and Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Malibu Emergency Services said.
At 3:10 a.m. Sunday, a spokesperson at the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Lost Hills Station announced PCH had reopened.
