A person was fatally struck by a Metrolink train in San Fernando Tuesday evening.

Train 223 was traveling northbound on the Antelope Valley Line to Lancaster when it struck the person on the tracks near Brand Boulevard about 7:15 p.m., according to Metrolink’s Scott Johnson. It was not immediately clear what the person was doing on the tracks.

The victim was taken to a hospital and died from the injuries

Ninety passengers were aboard the train, which was still holding in the area as of 8:10 p.m. while San Fernando Police Department officers conducted their investigation, Johnson said.

The San Fernando Police Department was not immediately available for more information.
