The Riverside Country coroner’s office Sunday named the motorist who died when his vehicle crashed into a street light pole in Riverside.

The crash occurred at 12:24 a.m. Saturday around Van Buren Boulevard and Mason Street, according to the Riverside City Police Department.

Investigators said the driver lost control of the vehicle while going southbound on Van Buren Boulevard approaching Mason Street.

Steven Garibay, 18, of Riverside was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

Drugs and alcohol were not believed to have contributed to the crash, police said.
