Police Thursday hunted an armed robber who made off with “all the chicken” at the Pasadena Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles after being refused service because he wasn’t wearing a mask.
He apparently ignored the famed eatery’s waffles and did not seek any cash – just “all” the fried chicken that’s helped make the mini-chain popular.
In what would have been an unusual situation prior to the pandemic, the robber had earlier been refused service because he was not wearing a mask.
A cook identified only as Robert told KCAL9, “He came back towards the kitchen … pointing the gun at me … and pretty much said `Put all the chicken in the bag.”‘
The robbery occurred after the suspect had been turned away from the restaurant for failing to wear a mask, according to ABC7. It wasn’t clear if he was wearing a mask during the robbery.
The robbery occurred about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday at 830 N. Lake Ave., according to Lt. Bill Grisafe with the Pasadena Police Department, who did not confirm the details of ABC7’s and KCAL9’s reports.
The chicken-carrying robber took off from the restaurant before police arrived, Grisafe said. No one was injured, he said.
