A Indio man accused of sexually assaulting a masseuse during a massage session in La Quinta last weekend is free on bail Wednesday.
Zishu Zhang, 51, was taken into custody about 10 a.m. Tuesday and booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of sexual battery.
Zhang posted $25,000 bail and is scheduled to make his initial court appearance June 28 at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, jail records show.
Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Daniel Porras alleged that Zhang assaulted the victim — whose name was withheld — late Sunday afternoon in the 78-600 block of Highway 111.
Additional details about the crime were not provided.
Zhang has no documented felony convictions in Riverside County.
